Hittle and Associates which recommends the streamlining of operations and management at the Tyee and Swan hydroelectric projects under a single operator.     The Elks will have their annual Hoop Shoot on Sat., December 15 in the Community Gym. 8 and 9 year olds will shoot at 9:00 A.M., 10 and 11 year olds shoot at 10:00 and 12-13 year olds shoot at 11:00. Rules do not allow late applicants to participate once a category has started to shoot. All participants will be invited to a hamburger feed after the shoot.     The Wrangell Wolves wrestling squad finished their 2012 season at the 1A-3A state championships last weekend in Nikiski with Kurt Dingwall, Tanner Thomassen and Jeffrey Rooney, Jr. taking 4th place among the hundreds of wrestlers who traveled from across the state to compete.     On Dec. 5, Wrangell Deputy Magistrate Leanna Splinter adjudicated the following case: Russell E. Grey, 28, of Wrangell, pled guilty of Theft in the Third Degree and Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree. Two charges, Criminal Mischief in the Fifth Degree and Theft in the Third Degree were dismissed. Grey was sentenced to serve 15 days in jail, pay $1,250 in fines, pay $150 in surcharges, pay restitution up to $700, and to serve two years of probation. She was one of eight children, including sisters Eleanor, Irene, Mamie, Romaine, and brothers Theodore, Leonard, and Harold. Ted Lynch was a member of a family well known in Wrangell, a child of Michael Lynch Jr., and Rosalina Rosita Lanado (“Nana”) Lynch.     Carlton William Coss, 87, passed away August 30, 2012 at his home in Sierra Vista, Ariz. Carl was born in Battle Creek, Mich. on May 29, 1925 to Carl and Mary Coss. During WWII, Carl served in the western Pacific with the 96th Infantry – Dead Eye Division. Wounded in Okinawa, he received the Purple Heart. Carl graduated from Western Michigan.     A group of 15 participants gathered last weekend at Wrangell High School’s wood shop to cut and form traditional wooden paddles for use in the rededication of Chief Shakes Island in May of next year.     The 2013 preseason terminal run size forecast for large Stikine River king salmon has been set by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game at 22,400 fish. A preseason terminal run forecast of this size does not allow for an allowable catch for either the U.S. or Canada. Therefore, no directed fisheries will occur in early May. An in-season terminal run estimate will be produced in late May.
