    A vehicle caught fire at Heritage Harbor last Monday morning, April 20. Dorianne Sprehe, with the Wrangell Fire Department, said they received a call about the fire at 10:26 a.m., and were on-scene by 10:30 a.m. A Ford F-250 had caught fire, Sprehe said. Members of the Wrangell Harbor Department had made it onto the scene before the fire department, she said, and had tried to put out the fire with a dry chemical extinguisher.     ­­­­April 8, 1920 C.W. Hawksworth, Superintendent of Schools under the U.S. Bureau of Education arrived in Wrangell last Friday night. Mr. Hawksworth has been on the Murre making a tour of the government schools in this districk. Thursday night the Murre went on the rocks at Hell’s Gate in Rocky Pass.     The Nolan Center and Harbor Light Assembly of God partnered together to host a drive-in movie night last Sunday night, April 5. The church provided the parking and wall wide enough to project a movie, while the Nolan Center provided the film, How to Train Your Dragon.     Missing their students, due to the district being closed until May, teachers at Evergreen Elementary School organized a parade around town to see their students. Parents were encouraged to bring their kids out to porches and windows to wave at them as they drove through town, maintaining social distancing per COVID-19 safety requirements.     After years of sitting idle in the shipyard, the Rainforest Islander was put back in the water last Friday, March 27. Eric Yancey, of Breakaway Adventures, purchased the ship to launch a new business, Breakaway Ferry and Freight LLC. The ship was built back in the 1990s, Yancey said, and was used for a number of different jobs across Alaska through the years. A crack in its hull put the Islander in Wrangell's shipyard around 2015, he said, and due to the high cost of repairs it stayed there....

    March 25, 1920 W.E. Parrott received a letter yesterday from A. Everson of Telegraph Creek. Mr. Everson states that he had the misfortune of getting burned out on January 22 when the temperature was 34 below zero. He reports that his wife and little ones are well and that two of the girls and Johnny are attending school regularly. Mr. Everson complained that he is not receiving the Sentinel regularly.     Last Tuesday evening, March 17, the Wrangell Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire by City Park. Dorianne Sprehe, with the fire department, said that the call came in around 6:59 p.m. that evening. An unnamed minor was driving a Chevy pickup truck, she said, when smoke began to pour out of the vehicle’s engine. The truck’s operator pulled over at City Park and called 911.
