The Wrangell Little League is getting ready for the upcoming season. It is looking to be a fairly exciting one, as well. Thanks to a large turnout in the 2018 season, League President Briana Schilling said that they are anticipating having teams travel and compete in tournaments in the 2019 season. This is something the little league teams have not done in several years, only playing against themselves in previous seasons. Age and experience triumphed over youthful energy last Thursday night, Dec. 20. Wrangell’s Elks Lodge hosted its annual Hoop Shoot last Saturday. The community gym was packed with kids participating in the free throw contest, and supportive family members and friends in the bleachers. The Hoop Shoot is a yearly event hosted by Elks lodges across the country for children ages eight to 13. After a long and hard-fought season, the Lady Wolves came home for the last time this year. After taking second place in Regionals at Metlakatla last November, the high school volleyball team went to Anchorage last week to compete in the state championship.
