When our beloved Jesus Christ came into this world, He was a being of absolute perfection. From God’s will, and for the purpose of ennobling the world of being and of elevating the minds and souls of mankind, Christ was sent to Earth as a Divine Instrument for the education of the whole human race.
Besides being the Son of God, and a Savior for mankind, Christ was — and continues to be — a Divine Educator. Without the bounty of His divine instruction, the world of souls and thoughts would be in spiritual darkness.
Jesus made His perfections shine like the sun, illuminating the reality of all mankind. He enlightened the souls of the people of this world with His numerous teachings, among which were many character-building virtues, such as love (“Love thy neighbor” and even “Love thine enemy”), kindness (remember the parable of the good Samaritan), and peacefulness (Even emphasizing nonviolence, in “The Sermon on the Mount”).
Despite having access to the teachings of Christ, we live in a world today that frequently seems Godless. The whole world is in dire need of a Divine Educator. Jesus, most assuredly a Divine Educator, said, “Ye are the light of the world.” (Mathew, Ch. 5, The Beatitudes, Line 14), and “Let your light shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father, which is in Heaven.” (The Beatitudes, Line 16).
This Christmas season, let us celebrate not only the joy of Christ’s birth, but let us also celebrate His wonderful teachings by trying to be the shining lights, as He would have us be.
So, Merry Christmas everyone from your Wrangell Bahá’í friends, and praise be to God, who sent his love and mercy in the person of Jesus Christ! We celebrate both Christ’s life and the extraordinary Christ spirit, which to this day continues to educate, uplift and ennoble the entire human race.
“We testify that when He (Christ) came into the world, He shed the splendor of His glory upon all created things. Blessed is the man who, with a face beaming with light, hath turned towards Him” from the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh.
