Danielle "Dani" Christine Roher passed away on July 9, 2025, in Anchorage from a heart condition.
A celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Harbor Light Assembly of God. A reception will follow the service downstairs in the church fellowship hall. Donations of an appetizer or dessert are welcome.
Dani was born June 1, 1990, in Wrangell to Kelly Buness and became a daughter to Mike Buness when she was 5 ½ years old.
Dani grew up in Wrangell with siblings Nickole, Jeska, John and Karri, spending time camping at the family cabins, four-wheeling, hunting, fishing and boating.
She graduated from Wrangell High School in 2008, where she participated in basketball, volleyball, softball and the swim team. She attended Close Up and the Ethel Lund Village Health Occupations Program. She worked as a lifeguard and spent the summers working at Sea Level Seafoods and as a deckhand aboard the family's commercial fishing boat.
Following high school, Dani attended Indian State College in Vero Beach, Florida, studying business management. She loved the Florida sun and beaches, but her heart belonged in Alaska and she soon came home.
She relocated to Juneau, where she had her son, Jayden, in 2011, and daughters Baylee in 2012 and Ayla in 2014. She married Dirk Daughtery on March 22, 2015. They would spend a year in Hawaii in 2012 when Dirk's drilling job transferred him to Hilo, then moved back to Juneau where she helped him with his family's canvas business. Dani moved to Anchorage in 2021.
"Dani's infectious humor and laughter could light up a room and her smile made everyone around her smile," her family wrote.
Her greatest love was for her children, and she will be most remembered for the countless memories she made with them.
Dani was preceded in by her husband, Dirk, on May 18, 2022, and her premature daughter, Ryinn Christine, on Feb. 27, 2025.
She is survived by her children, Jayden, Baylee and Ayla Daugherty; and parents, siblings, maternal grandparents, nieces, nephews, and many cousins, aunts and uncles.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dani's name to Harbor Light youth group, and may be dropped off at the church, deposited into Harbor Light's bank account at First Bank, or mailed to Box 1936, Wrangell, AK 99929.
