Richard "Richie" James Rooney died July 4, 2024, in a tragic accident in Kodiak.
Richie was born Nov. 2, 2010, in Wasilla to Morgan Rooney and Erica Blondin.
A celebration of life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2025, at the end pavilion of Wrangell City Park for friends and family.
Richie was raised in Kodiak, spending his summers in Wrangell with his family. He was a member of the Wrangell JOM Kaasitlaan dancers from the time he was little and attended every Celebration in Juneau. Richie's Tlingit name is Tuliaaní Yéil.
He is survived by brothers, Travis J Rooney (Arizona), Austin and Leif; sister Bailey Rooney (Ketchikan); parents Brian and Erica Blondin (Kodiak) and his dad, Morgan Rooney (Wasilla/Wrangell); grandparents Eric and Kim Thompson, Richard and Virginia Oliver, Tom Sr. and Lisa Rooney; and many aunts, uncles, cousins.
