Just because the calendar has 365 days every year doesn’t mean there has to be an organized activity every day of the year. But there are a lot of activities in Wrangell, which is good. And it would be even better if more of those activities get added to the Sentinel’s community calendar.
But we need your help.
We have redesigned our web page, particularly the community calendar. It’s there on the front of the home page at wrangellsentinel.com — in two locations, to make it even easier to find.
It’s just below the Wrangell News on the right-hand side of the page. Click on an individual listing for more information about the event or click on Browse Full Calendar for everything on every day as far into the future as we have the information. Or you can click on Calendar of Events at the top of the page, directly below the totem pole.
The community calendar is in front of the website paywall, so it will always be available for free for everyone — no subscription required.
And there is no charge for getting added to the calendar, which is available for community events, nonprofits, most anything that is open to the public.
You don’t have to do anything to get added to the calendar—just email wrgsent@gmail.com or call Amber at 907-874-2301 or drop off your information at the Sentinel office on Front Street. We’ll do the rest, and we’ll update the calendar daily.
With just a little help, we can build the calendar into a complete directory of public events around town.
Besides for the improved online listings, we will continue to print the calendar on Page 2 of the print edition each week. Some old habits never change.
Nothing against Facebook, which certainly has its own wide readership, but the Sentinel is read by hundreds of people every week, online and in print. So when you think to put your event on the Wrangell Community Group Facebook page, email it to us, too.
It couldn’t be any easier. Or cheaper. Or a better public service for people who may want to join you at your next event.
