Awards for the top entries in Wrangell’s annual fishing derby will be presented at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at the Stikine Inn.
“If you entered a fish, stop down and you might just get to claim a prize,” said the chamber of commerce, which sponsored the three-in-one derby this year for the largest king salmon, coho and halibut.
“We’ll have several prizes donated by our event sponsors.”
Derby entrants who won a merchant prize must be present at the Sept. 23 awards ceremony to receive their prize. The top winners of $1,000 each for the largest king, coho or halibut catch will receive their checks by mail if they cannot attend the ceremony, the chamber said.
The sportfishing derbies opened June 7 and closed Sept. 7.
