Goodbye until next summer
The 780-foot-long Zaandam docked in Wrangell on Sept. 30, the last cruise ship of a busy season. A steady stream of ships started in May, totaling almost 75,000 berths over the summer as they tied up or anchored up and sent their passengers into town to explore, stroll, shop and learn about the town. And while the borough’s Economic Development Department, the chamber of commerce and others are promoting Wrangell as a cruise ship destination, they also are working to attract more independent travelers who spend the night and spend more time in town.
