Using your smartphone to access and navigate through the Irene Ingle Public Library website is now more flexible and functional, due to installation of an improved version of the mobile site.
“The previous version was pretty clunky, really not user-friendly, “said Library Director Sarah Scambler. Options like using filters for searches were previously only available through laptop or desk computer connections.
“Now it’s possible for anyone to independently search through what we have, using their phone.”
The improved version allows users to access their library account, scroll through the newest acquisitions, curate reading lists and browse through the more than 35,000 books, DVDs and other materials at the library.
Scambler recommends exploring the updated website for those local holdings, including tabs for the kid’s catalog, the Wrangell Newspaper Archive and the Alaska Digital Library.
There is also a tab that connects users to the library homepage, for additional services like inter-library loans.
“I feel it is an option that people haven’t discovered yet or tried to use and became frustrated. As people increasingly and exclusively rely on their phones as a primary resource, we are excited to offer this expanded system.”
