Melvin Clifford Gadd, 82, passed away on Sept. 10, 2025, in Wrangell.
Melvin was born on June 25, 1943, to Hazel Viola Gadd and Melvin Frank Gadd in Wrangell.
He worked as an engineer most of his life and a fisherman. He was a logger for a day until he broke his leg. He worked for various companies such as Campbell Towing and Silver Bay Logging.
Mel spent his free time watching TV, listening to the news or chatting with his friends or family. He was a quiet, laidback man who always enjoyed a good story or laugh, his family said. Mel lived a simple life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel Viola Gadd (Howe) and Melvin Frank Gadd, and sister Hazel Gadd.
He is survived by his daughter Zell Gadd; stepdaughter Neicy Hayes; brothers Barre and Charlie Gadd; nieces Candace Grissom, Carissa Maleski and Caleah Gadd; nephews Selleck Gadd, Ehren Orberndorfer, Michael Maleski, Barre Gadd Jr. and Johnny Gadd; and many great-nieces and great-nephews; honorary family members Lacey Soeteber, Mike Christian, Carsyn Christian and Ashlyn Christian.
A celebration of life was held on Oct. 18 at the Elks Lodge in Wrangell.
“May all that loved him find peace that he’s with his family and friends that have passed before him. A special thank you to those who have been there and supported the family during our time of bereavement,” his family wrote.
