A new totem pole will be raised at the high school and middle school campus during a home basketball weekend in January.
The Sentinel reported in its Dec. 3 edition that the seven-foot pole would be unveiled Dec. 6 during the Tom Sims Invitational wrestling tournament.
However, carver Mike Hoyt said the confusion over the date stemmed from a scheduling conflict, as he had previously informed event organizers that he would be out of town last weekend and had suggested unveiling the pole during a high school basketball home weekend.
The totem pole is an original piece commissioned by the school district. It will be installed in the outdoor courtyard between the middle school and high school.
The basketball season at home opens Jan. 9-10.
