I would like to offer a small clarification regarding the holiday dinner for residents of the Senior Apartments that was reported in the Dec. 24 Sentinel, to make sure proper credit is given.
The holiday dinner for the elders of the building is not a new idea, but rather a long-standing tradition started many years ago by the board of directors. What began as a potluck with tenants — where the board provided the turkey and ham — naturally evolved into a catered event as the core age of the residents increased, ensuring everyone could continue to participate with ease.
In addition to the holiday dinner, the board of directors is also funding a winter lunch program this year, allowing residents to enjoy a nice meal once a week without having to leave the building.
While the board has changed over the years, its goal has remained the same: to care for and support the elders who live here. That commitment deserves recognition.
With sincere thanks to Dave Svendson, Elsie Bailey, Terry Buness, Aaron Angerman and Steve Beers for their dedication and generosity.
