State award winners
Leeya Gillen placed second in the state and Maddox Angerman placed third in the 8- to 9-year-old category in the annual Elks Hoop Shoot contest. More than 30 Wrangell competitors ages 8 through 13 gave it their best shots at the community center gym on Dec. 13, with their scores going to state Elks officials to compare to competitors from across the state. Jeff Jabusch (left) has served for years as Hoop Shoot director in Wrangell, assisted by Keith Appleman (right).
