Richard Lee Baker passed away on Feb. 27 in Wrangell, at the age of 83.
Richard was born on Jan. 11, 1943, in Storm Lake, Iowa, to Wesley and Virginia “Cash” Baker, the third of five children.
Richard proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. After his military service he worked at a packinghouse for two years, spent time on the railroad and later became a long-haul truck driver for 10 years.
While stationed in Vietnam, Richard married Primitivia and together they had two children: Eric (Mark) Gilligan and Wesley Baker. After their divorce, Richard married Pearl Ely, who already had three children: Tammy Lewis, April Eilertsen and Douglas Ely.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
A celebration of life was held on July 5.
