The 17th Annual Harvest Festival is coming this weekend

The yearly event was created to help bring in an additional sale prior to the release of Alaska Permanent Fund dividends.

Tessa Appleman, the membership director at the Wrangell Chamber of Commerce said the day boosts the local economy and spurs shoppers to take part thanks to a $500 drawing held on Saturday night at 6:15pm.

“It gives people an additional incentive to go shopping for everything from house goods to starting early on Christmas gifts,” Appleman said.

The chamber is also utilizing ‘Rewards Cards’ shoppers can turn in for the $500 drawing. After spending $50 at the merchant of their choice, shoppers should return the cards to the chamber office by Saturday night for a chance to win.

There is no limit on the amount of rewards cards you can fill out.

Appleman added that many local businesses are running sales and specials this weekend along with a small bazaar that will be going on in the chamber office lobby. The bazaar will include Mabel’s Home Made Desserts and Chocolates, Party Light products, Pampered Chef products and others.

The Wrangell Cooperative Association is also holding a bazaar out of their offices with sales of Mary Kay makeup, T-shirts & sweatshirts, wall hangings and chocolates on Friday and Saturday.

There will also be a fundraiser for Betty Nore at the SNO Building on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
