Ketchikan resident to seek District One seat

A Ketchikan resident has announced she will run in the GOP primary against Reps. Peggy Wilson and Kyle Johansen for Alaska’s 1st House District.

Patti Mackey, Executive Director of the Ketchikan Visitors Bureau, said last week that she would run for the nomination to the seat that will be created as a result of redistricting.

With the expansion of the 1st District under the current redistricting plan, its legislative boundaries would swell to include Ketchikan, Wrangell and northern Prince of Wales Island.

Rep. Wilson represents the 2nd District, while Rep. Johansen holds the seat encompassing the current 1st District.

Mackey, who also worked in the media industry as a station manager and program director for Alaska Broadcast Communications, has been the executive director of the Ketchikan Visitors Bureau since 1995.
