Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:

We the people, for the people and by the people? Really: Aren’t “We” the people of this great land?

Then tell us who appoints the administrators in the offices of AMHS?

They are certainly not men of knowledge regarding the AMHS ships. They seem more like “Let’s try these ships” or you “pat my back and I’ll pat yours” and “if these don’t work, we’ll tie these up and just order some more.

Who is this man that knows that these Alaska Class ferries are definitely going to work where others have failed?

And who is he that he can say we plan to eliminate the Bellingham run and across the Gulf? We have service men and women and local people who need these ships to travel for medical. AMHS used to have the Hollis run and then the Inter-Island Ferry took over. AMHS built two more terminals on Prince of Wales Island and one more 30 miles out of Petersburg, where they have to wait for the tide to come in to be able to dock. None of these terminals have been used for years.

AMHS has wasted so much money because of gross mismangement. How does the USDA and ADOT justify another loan of 3 million dollars for the same senario?

The more ferries they buy and tie up the sooner we can tie them together for a floating bridge.
