Snow has been falling on and off in Wrangell since Friday, and as of Tuesday, the National Weather Service has forecasted snow showers to continue through the weekend.
However, the snow has not caused any serious problems for Wrangell, according to reports from the Police Department and Public Works Department.
Wrangell Police Chief Doug McCloskey said he is aware of two car accidents occurring in the past week due to weather, but neither were serious or caused any injuries. He said those two incidents are “kind of normal when you get some snow.”
“[It was] very minor,” said McCloskey. “We’re not complaining.”
Wrangell a Public Works Superintendent Carl Johnson said the department was able to successfully clear any snow from the roads during the snowstorm over the weekend. Some snow that hit late at night was not plowed until the following morning, Johnson said, but other than that, no issues arose due to weather.
“It wasn’t too bad,” he said.
The exact amount of snowfall in Wrangell could not be reported before the Sentinel’s deadline. The forecaster for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which tracks snowfall information for Wrangell, has been out of the office for the past week.
