Obituary: Kenneth Goodrich, 73

Kenneth Goodrich 73, of Ketchikan, died January 11, 2012, after a long illness.

Ken was born April 22 1938, in Juneau, the son of the late Lloyd E. Goodrich and Thelma (Edwards) Goodrich. He was the oldest of 3 siblings. He grew up in Wrangell graduating from Wrangell High School in 1956.

Ken survived alcohol to go on to enjoy a long career helping others battle addiction. He moved to Ketchikan in the early 70’s where he eventually worked at the KAR House and for the Ketchikan Gateway Human Services with the Alcohol Safety Action Program until he retired.

In retirement, Ken enjoyed visiting Ethel’s girls and grandchildren, baseball and football games in Seattle, walking, and sharing a cup of coffee with friends. Ken was a member of Ketchikan Indian Community, and a member of the Lions Club.

Ken is survived by daughter Juella Sparks and grandchildren Katie and Rebecca of Fairbanks, and her sisters Jackie Bell of Juneau, Jayanne Scott of Olympia, Wash. and their children; his brother Lloyd Goodrich of Battle Ground, Wash.and his sister Linda Lyczeski of Union Gap, Wash. and their children.

A Memorial Service will be held January 28 in Ketchikan.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Wrangell Volunteer Fire Department.
