Mike Carney, 76

Mike Carney, 76, died January 27, 2012.

Mike was born in LaConner, Wash. on June 21, 1935 and moved soon after to Kittitas, Wash. where he was raised with six brothers and three sisters on a farm.

Mike married Helen in June of 1957. He moved with his family to Alaska, starting in Metlakatla in 1960 and then to Wrangell in 1971. Mike worked as a millwright and a sawyer, later becoming a foreman.

When Mike was not working, he was always fishing or hunting; a true outdoorsman.

After Mike retired he enjoyed the life of a “snowbird”, traveling between Alaska, Washington and Arizona.

Mike is survive by his daughters Tammy (Clay) McCay, Terry (Tom) Wynne, and Mykal (Rick) Gladsjo, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three brothers, and two sisters.
