Totem tournament held at Muskeg Meadows

Wrangell Golf Club hosted the Totem Bar’s 18-Hole 4-Person best-ball scramble tournament last weekend, Aug. 4-5 at Muskeg Meadows golf course.

The tournament featured 15 participants on Saturday, with 14 golfers taking part in a 9-hole event on Sunday.

Saturday’s 1st place team consisted of Totem Bar owner, Aaron Powell, along with Mike and Chuck Hay, and Adam Sprehe with a gross score of 70, using a team handicap of 27 (net score 43.) Second place went to club members Eric Kading, Faye Kohrt, and Arnie and Kathy Sandness with a gross score of 75, with a team handicap of 29 (net score 46.) Third place went to Randy Littleton, Greg Scheff, Ed Rilatos and Desi Burrell with a final tally of 77 on a team handicap of 30 (net score 47.)

Littleton won both the “straightest drive” and “closest to the pin” with a 23-inch drive from the line and a 101-inch shot from the pin.

Sunday’s top team consisted of Glacier Larson, Robby Robinson and Greg Gifford with a score of 37, using a team handicap of 17 (net score 20.) Taking the No. 2 spot was Powell, Sprehe, Mike Hay and Mike Ottesen with a score of 34 on a team handicap of 13 (net score 21.)

George Woodbury won the straightest drive with a 17-foot shot from the line. Closest to the pin went to Tyler Gunn with a 32-foot 4-inch shot.

The next tournament at Muskeg Meadows will be this weekend, Aug. 10-11, as the course hosts a women’s and men’s cancer care fundraiser on those dates respectively.
