Reflections

Psalm 12:5-6a NIV “Because of the oppression of the weak and the groaning of the needy, I will now arise”, says the Lord. “I will protect them from those who malign them.” And the words of the Lord are flawless.

I believe that there is way too much that we try to do alone. And one of those things that we try to do is judge others. Not as in the court, but in our hearts. And then we often sometimes even go farther than that, we speak out. In the emotion of the moment we tell someone what we believe is the truth or the right of it all, text someone and then there is the dreaded post on social sites. I feel we too often go into action, with good intentions, and miss the mark. Our words, whether spoken or written, once said are out there. An exercise I have been using of late is to really think about what I am saying, what I am writing. I try to make sure I know first hand what I am saying or writing. Not first hand from different sources but what I know 100%. It is not easy to do, but I encourage you to try it. Because the only thing that we each are entitled to speak or write about is our own selves. That gets sort of limiting. It is impossible to get all the details of an issue or event if we weren’t there or it didn’t happen to us personally. We don’t even have to try to prove we are right….because we are promised that the Lord will protect us from those who malign us. Verse 7 go on like this…O Lord, you will keep us safe and protect us from such people forever. So as the saying goes, “No worries,” because we have been promised that the Lord has it all taken care of. Peace to all.
