Wrangell Wolves wrestler Tanner Thomassen overcame adversity and a series of competitors at the 2A-Region V tournament in Haines last weekend to walk away with the No. 1 spot in advance of the state finals in Nikiski. Thomassen took his win in the 145-pound class against Kake’s Angelo Lerma on a 5-2 decision. The Wolves will head to Nikiski this weekend to attend the state tournament.

2nd place – 182lb Sophomore Jeffrey Rooney Jr
3rd place – 113lb Junior Alex Cano

4th place – 160lb Senior Jordan Veelle
The Wolves took 2nd place overall in the tournament behind Craig with 140.5 points for the weekend.
