Jamieson hired on as aide to Stedman

Former Borough Clerk Christie Jamieson may have retired from her position with the City and Borough of Wrangell last year, but she isn’t showing any signs of slowing down.

Jamieson, who sat atop the Borough’s organizational chart starting in 1997, said her new passion – and career move – involves gracing the halls of the Alaska State Legislature in Juneau as an aide to Senator Bert Stedman.

Stedman, who was re-elected last year to the newly formed District Q took on Jamieson to assist with community and constituent relations, public communications and research.

“I have always been fortunate to have excellent staff working in my office on your behalf. This year I am pleased to announce a new member of my staff, Christie Jamieson from Wrangell,” Stedman wrote in a press release announcing her hiring. “She is a life-long ‘Wrangellite’ with a professional municipal government background.”

Jamieson said she is happy to be working in Juneau for the constituents of the district.

“I really like it here. We have a great team to work with,” Jamieson said. “I think, my favorite part so far is learning all the representatives names and senators names and getting to know everybody in the legislature.”

Jamieson is also the Vice-President of the Wrangell Chamber of Commerce. She joins Darwin Peterson who has worked in Sen. Stedman’s office for the last six years.
