Now that you have been appointed Mayor, how will you accomplish some of the goals you set out, such as building the new hospital?
By encouraging the Medical Center Board and the Assembly to work together to find the best way to complete the project.
What do you see in the future for The Marine Service Center? Will your administration seek additional property where the Borough can expand its operations?
I believe The Marine Service Center is a bright spot in the community. I see it as being a creator of jobs and of great benefit to the fishing industry. If it is the Port Commission’s wish to expand the operation and it is practical to do so I, and I’m sure the rest of the Assembly, will do all we can to assist them in any way we can.
With Wrangell’s documented population increase, what are some of the ways Wrangell can continue to enable job creation?
By creating an environment to encourage businesses to expand or new businesses to open.
How do you feel about the proposed tax reduction ballot initiative set for the next general election?
I do not believe it is in the best interests of the community to reduce the sales tax. This is a source of revenue for matching funds for many projects such as Evergreen Avenue. Without this funding, many projects may not be started.
Will you run for the office of Mayor during the next general election?
Yes.
