Pok Sun (Sue) Fields passed away February 8, 2013 at the Wrangell Medical Center Long Term Care Facility.
Sue was born in Korea in 1942 to Father, Chan Ho Choe and Mother, Su Kyo Kim-Choe. Both her parents were killed in the Korean War and Sue at 8 years old was raised by her sister.
She met Ron Jones a U.S. soldier and married him when she was 25 years old. They spent some time in Germany when Ron was stationed there.
Living in the U.S. Ron was a truck driver; Sue would accompany him doing long distance trucking in the states before they came to Southeast Alaska.
Sue and Ron lived in various logging camps until moving to Wrangell in the 80’s. Ron passed away at 52 in 2000 at Coffman Cove Logging Camp.
Sue married Frank Fields and they enjoyed extensive travels in their motor home in Alaska, Yukon Territory, Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana for several years. Frank passed away in 2008 in Washington State after an illness.
Although Sue did not have children herself she loved kids and her many family members she was a part of loved her very much.
As Sue neared the end of her life she appreciated the care she received from Harriet Schirmer longtime friend, Laura and Greg Salard, Alice Rooney, and the staff at Long Term Care Facility. Sue loved her rides and visits with the Salards, and many others.
Sue especially loved being taken home for tea by Deann Johnson her very special friend. Sue truly loved Deann, her love and care was not forgotten.
Sue was a Christian and part of the congregation of the First Presbyterian Church of Wrangell where her memorial service will be held on Friday, February 22, at 1:30 pm. There will be coffee and cookies following the service.
In Lieu of flowers or cards you may make memorial donations to Wrangell Long Term Care activities as Long Term Activities were a special time in Sue’s life.
