CG Cutter Anacapa gets new Commanding Officer

Lieutenant Kathryn R. Cyr relieved Lieutenant Commander Ruben E. Boudreaux as commanding officer of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Anacapa during a formal ceremony at the Sons of Norway Hall in Petersburg on Monday.

Boudreaux has commanded the Anacapa since July 2011. Boudreaux’s next assignment will be attending the Joint Military Attaché School at the Defense Intelligence Agency with a follow-on tour as a Coast Guard attaché in Malta.   

Cyr is reporting to the Anacapa from duties as the operations officer aboard the cutter Dependable in Cape May, N.J.  Her previous assignments include serving as the intelligence collection manager for Coast Guard 17th District in Juneau and as a deck watch officer on the cutter Reliance in Portsmouth, N.H. 

Cyr is a 2006 graduate of the Coast Guard Academy, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in operations research and computer analysis. 

Her personal awards include the Coast Guard Commendation Medal with operational distinguishing device, the Coast Guard Achievement Medal, and the Commandant’s Letter of Commendation with operational distinguishing device amongst many others.

Cyr will be the first woman to command the Anacapa since it was commissioned in 1990.
