Superior Court Judge Trevor Stephens sentenced William Boon, 25, of Wrangell, to 18 months unsuspended prison time for two counts of fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance on Nov. 18.
Officials originally charged Boon with eight counts of varying degrees of misconduct involving a controlled substance, ranging from second to fifth. Under a plea deal agreement reached with the district attorney’s office, Boon plead guilty to two counts in exchange for the dismissal of the others, and the modification of one count from second to fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance.
Boon will also serve an additional eight months stemming from an unrelated March 2011 conviction.
Boon also received three years probation, according to sentencing documents filed in Superior Court.
For the modified count, Boon received three years total time with two years suspended, sentencing documents show. For the other, unmodified count, Boon received two years prison time, 18 months of which were suspended.
Police arrested Boon on Oct. 26, 2012 for crimes committed between Oct. 2 and Oct. 16, 2012 involving hydrocodone and marijuana. The police investigation involved a confidential informant who wore a wire.
While all listed counts involve marijuana amounts under one ounce, police estimated the total amount at more than 10 ounces, according to the Nov. 8, 2012 issue of the Sentinel.
The crimes to which Boon plead guilty are Class C felonies under Alaska law.
