Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:

I want to tell the people of this community that I absolutely loved the time I was here in Wrangell. I have met so many wonderful and friendly folks here. Where else could one take a walk on the dock and end up in conversation with someone time after time. Not only is this a pretty town it is a gracious town.

Unfortunately, due to my job with AICS being outsourced to a California company I am forced to leave to find work. This community needs jobs kept local. Since being “outsourced” the beginning of Feb., I have encountered no less than 5 individuals and have had many, many more stories shared with me that reflected AICS culture of disrespect and poor communication with the employees. This apparent attitude that

workers are expendable, deserve no notice when their job is eliminated or that they can be treated disrespectfully day after day is pervasive in this agency.

I wanted to be part of an organization that could do good for the community. With all the grants and

funding AICS receives they should be able to do so. However, if you repeatedly have to train folks because employees leave because of work conditions, at some point the organizations and agencies supplying funding and grants are going to

realize there is a problem and perhaps Wrangell will end up without this financial assistance that make things such as a slide possible.

Wrangell take care. My best wishes to all.

Very respectfully,

Terese Connolly
