To the Editor:
I have 3 questions to the public, and don’t know who to ask, so here goes. #1 Why is the legislature going after the Marine Highway system? When these same legislatures break state law and transport their personal vehicles without drivers to and from the capitol, as well as trying to destroy jobs in this economy by dismantling a system with the lowest paid members of any state union. #2 Why has there been no mention of the Federal Investigation, of Rich Rhodes and our school system? #3 What is our Energy department doing about the poor quality of the electric system here in town? By this I mean every business has substantial building code
violations, some that an inspector should demand to be repaired. Most are relatively cheap to fix and
useful in an emergency (exit, egress lights) for example. Other more problematic fixes is the fact that neutrals are in a state of float, this means there is no sufficient grounding, to shunt excess voltage to a grounded source. This results in small shocks to
persons that contact metal in stores, and the burning out of electronics hooked up to some systems. Now I am in no way for big government, however without some guarding of national codes some people will live under a pile of garbage and call it home.

To the Editor:
I am a fourth grader at Fritsch Elementary School in Carson City, Nevada. I am writing to you because my class is doing state reports and I have chosen your state, Alaska. I would really like it if you
posted my letter in your newspaper so that I can get all the help I need for my report. What I need from you or your readers are pamphlets, postcards, photos, souvenirs, maps, small rocks from the mountains, pedals from the Forget-Me-Not, or anything else that would be useful. I will be writing about Alaska’s landforms, climate, resources, history, attractions, and unusual information (i.e., professional sports teams, wild animals from the state, and other
unusual facts.) Thank you for your support and help researching and gathering information from your astounding state. Please send this information to: Roland James List c/o Mary-Margaret Madden, 930 W. Robinson Street, Carson City, NV 89703.
