To the Editor:
I’d like to tell you why I am endorsing Chere Klein for our next District 36 House of Representative and why it’s very important that you vote for her August 19 over all the other candidates currently running.
First and foremost consider her experience and understanding of our local Wrangell community. Chere and her husband Loren Enright have actually operated businesses here for the past 15 years. They hire and purchase locally and are contributors to our economy.
Secondly, and almost as important, is her experience working for me the past two years in Juneau. She quickly grasped the importance of collaborating with others, the legislative
negotiating process, and how to best leverage relationships for the benefit of our local communities.
I have complete faith that, although born and raised in Ketchikan, Chere will objectively represent and take into consideration the best interest of constituents here in Wrangell when tough decisions have to be made.
Chere has worked very hard
learning our legislative processes and she now has the hands-on experience to actually get things done. Please vote for Chere Klein August 19.
Rep. Peggy Wilson
To the Editor:
Regarding Nancy Murkowski’s July 3 letter to the editor in last week’s Sentinel, I’d like to point out there are four competent candidates running for Peggy Wilson’s vacated District 36 legislative seat, not just three. Three are Republicans, while the other candidate, Dan Ortiz, is running as a non-partisan Independent. Dan, a 45-year resident of Ketchikan and recently retired school teacher, is a self-described fiscal
conservative and strong supporter of economic development for SE Alaska as well as the entire State.
Dan has already received the endorsement of the United Fishermen of Alaska, the largest statewide commercial fishing trade association. As his campaign moves forward, he continues to receive new support almost daily throughout the District. I urge you to consider his candidacy in the general election in November.
Dan will also be in Wrangell for Bearfest later this month. He looks forward to meeting and discussing issues and hearing people’s concerns in person. Until then, check out his election website or his facebook page for additional information.
