JD Barratt keeps his pace at Saturday's cross-country meet. He tied for 23rd place overall, with an official run time of 19:15.
Wrangell's Amy Jenson keeps ahead of Shandel Pingayak of Mt. Edgecumbe High School in Saturday's cross-country meet, taking fourth place overall for the girls competition with a finish time of 21:24.1. Pingayak finished just after, at 21:27.8.
And they're off! Representing 15 different schools, 127 boys took part in the Jack Eddy Invitaitonal cross-country meet in Petersburg Saturday, as did 75 girls.
Wrangell High School's girls cross-country team had a fine showing in Petersburg last weekend, coming in fifth overall with 87 points. Seventy-five girls and 127 boys from 15 different schools participated in Saturday's meet.
"Petersburg was a great race for all," said Wrangell's head coach, Jenn Davies. Wrangell Public Schools reported the results for 1A, 2A and 3A.
For the girls' team, Wrangell runner Amy Jenson took fourth place overall, at 21 minutes, 24 seconds. Kimberly Cooper took sixth at 21:30 and Reyn Hutten took eighth at 22:13.
For the boys' team, Bryce Gerald tied for fourth place with a run time of 17:46 seconds, and J.D. Barratt tied for 23rd at 19:57.
"It was a great course and I am proud of all the runners and the places they took. They are working hard every day in practice and it is showing in their races," Davies said in a statement.
