Family traditions from students in Mrs. Wilson's First Grade class

Mrs. Wilson’s 1st grade class has been studying cultures and family traditions this year. When asked what special traditions their families do at Christmas, her students responded as follows:

Lucas Larrabee: We set up the Christmas tree and put up the lights. We put on the ornaments. We wrap the presents. We love playing in the snow, especially riding my bike in the snow and slipping.

Dayne Pritchett: At Christmas time we sing Christmas carols and go to friends homes and sing with them. We like setting up the Christmas tree and making gingerbread houses. The most important thing is that it’s Jesus’ birthday. I love to open presents.

Tank Martin: Every year our family hangs up our Christmas lights. I love opening presents on Christmas morning!

Brody Knecht: I give presents to others every year at Christmas. I also give presents to my Mom and Dad and brothers. I also love to visit my brothers. They are the best!

Donovan Wood: Every year I love to open presents. We like to watch the lighting of the big Wrangell Christmas tree.

Clara Edens: Our family always makes gingerbread houses. We put lots of candies on it. We keep it on the counter for a while, then we eat it all up!

Andrew Guggenbickler: Nathan and I play outside. We bring in a Christmas tree and decorate it. I love Christmas so much!

Katelynn Gillen: I always go to my Grandma’s house and spend lots of time with my family.

Bear Greer: I love to go to Anthony’s house every year at Christmas time. We open presents together. We drink hot chocolate.

Anthony Coblentz: At Christmas time, I love to play in the snow!

Shailyn Nelson: I like opening presents and hanging out with family. I like Christmas, because it’s all about Jesus!

William Massin: Every year my family and I go to Midnight Madness. We set up our tree, and we go to the Christmas party.

Presley Petticrew: Every year we set up our Christmas lights, our Christmas tree, and put the star on top of the Christmas tree. We open presents early on Christmas morning!

Lee Balansag: I love to set up my Christmas tree. I put the ornaments on it. On Christmas morning, I love to drink hot chocolate with marshmallows in it. I love making gingerbread men. I am proud of Christmas, because I love getting presents!

Paige Hoyt: I love opening presents every Christmas morning. We make gingerbread cookies. All my cousins and I always go down to my Grandma’s and decorate a little Christmas tree of our own.

Ariana Ellsworth: We make cookies at Auntie Haily’s. We decorate them. After that, we go and open our presents. We also make gingerbread men.

Tyra Meissner: We put up our ornaments on our Christmas tree. Then we go and see the BIG gathering Christmas tree and the star shining bright down town. I love the presents under the Christmas tree. I hope everyone else has a good Christmas!

The entire class wishes everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
