Baby Kevin receives a gift from Santa Claus at the fourth annual Christmas party held on Saturday by Wrangell's American Legion Auxiliary Unit 6. A popular December destination for local parents, the party has been split into two sessions to make it more manageable. "It's too crazy to put them all in one," said Marilyn Mork, the unit's president. Turnout was better this year than last, with 151 kids and their parents showing up. "It was a great party," Mork said. The children got to enjoy hot dogs, chips and treats, and each got a personalized gift arranged for by the Auxiliary.

With Virginia Oliver and a pair of assistants keeping time, on Friday a group of Wrangell boys compete for a seat during a game of 'musical chairs' at the Christmas party hosted each year by Camp 1 of the Alaska Native Sisterhood. Featuring a number of games, treats and activities, the holiday hot dog boil has been a local tradition for around three-quarters of a century.
