A special statement from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Weather Radio was put

out Tuesday by

http://www.WeatherUnderground.com, warning of strong outflow winds over Alaska’s northern and central Panhandle through Saturday.

A cold, Arctic airmass and associated high pressure system will develop over northwestern Canada today, resulting in strong winds with gusts from 40 to 70 mph near interior passes such as Lynn Canal, Taku Inlet, Disenchantment Bay, the passes east of Yakutat and the Stikine River Valley. Wind speeds from 50 to 60 mph will also be possible in Skagway, downtown Juneau and south Douglas.

Strong winds will increase the potential for flying debris and possible power outages due to downed tree branches. In addition, cold temperatures and strong winds will result in wind chill values around 40 below zero near White Pass tonight and tomorrow night.
