The United States Forest Service announced a temporary change in its permit system at the Anan Wildlife Observatory. In a media release distributed last week, it announced its online reservations system has become obsolete and that a temporary fix is being employed to confirm reservations made for the 2015 visiting season.
The new system is expected to be available in April, at http://www.recreation.gov. In the meantime, a temporary process for early booking will be to submit an email of interest to anan@fs.fed.us. Detailed instructions for submitting these are available at http://goo.gl/3AOsYw.
Requests will be subject to lottery on March 2. There will be no fee for entry into the lottery, and those selected will be contacted for the usual fee of $10 per pass.
Twenty passes will be available per day with up to four passes per group. A new $6 reservation fee will also be assessed when lottery winners are entered into the new system address above.
