Reflections

My wife, Dena, and I enjoy walking around town. As we stroll, I can’t help but notice the crocuses are in bloom. The bulbs of these beautiful flowers looked dead when they were buried. At just the right time they rise up in all their glory. With Easter on its way I can’t help but be reminded of Jesus. He was dead because He chose to take my sins upon Himself. He was buried and rose again. So each crocus bloom

is a reminder of God’s love for us.

I like to garden. The worst part of gardening for most folks is pulling weeds. Some weeds are on the surface and they come up easy. Others have long roots and don’t want to come out. The roots break off and you have to get on your knees to dig them out. Sin is like weeds. Sometimes, sin has deep roots. To remove sin, like weeds, it’s best to spend time on our knees. Searching our souls and digging deep to make sure they are gone. “If we confess them, we are forgiven,” 1 John 1:9.

I look forward to the time that our gardens won’t have any weeds. There won’t be any sin either. The prophet Isaiah describes life on the new earth. Isaiah 65:21 “They shall build houses and inhabit them; They shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit.” No weeds, no sin, only Paradise.
