Brandon Luck, 17, appeared before First District Court Magistrate Chris Ellis for the offense of Under-21 Possession or Consumption of Alcohol. The defendant pleaded guilty, no contest, to the first offense charge. Luck was sentenced to pay a fine of $600 with $300 suspended and a $10 surcharge, and he must complete screening, evaluation and recommended education and/or treatment with a Juneau program. He was also placed on probation for a period of one year.
Leif Bosdell, 16, appeared before First District Court Magistrate Chris Ellis for a charge of Possession of Tobacco by a Minor. The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge and was ordered to pay a $10 training surcharge and complete a three-page essay on the effects of tobacco and smoking on the human body. A fine of $100 was suspended.
Gordon P. Dersch, 50, appeared before First District Court Judge Kevin Miller on two misdemeanor charges: Assault 4-Cause of Fear of Injury and Disorderly Conduct – Challenge to Fight. The defendant pleaded guilty to both charges, and as part of a plea agreement he was committed to the Cordova Center in Anchorage for 100 days with 70 days suspended. Dersch was also fined $750 with $500 suspended and is liable for $250 in surcharges. He will be on probation for one year.
