Tyri Pini introduces members of the Honor String ensemble, only the second year of its inclusion in Region V Honor Festival. Paraphrasing Aristotle, Pini said that while virtues can be aspired to and adopted, honor is different. "That is in the sight of your fellow men," he told the crowd. "I recognize honor in every student that is up here." Pini conducts the Juneau Student Symphony and the orchestra and choir at Thunder Mountain High School, and instructed the Honor Strings this year with Rich Moore (not pictured), orchestral and choir teacher at Juneau-Douglas High School.
