A recent high school graduate helped out the local fire department with her senior project. Kari Massin decided to make replacement cribbing for the Wrangell Volunteer Fire Department as her senior project. WVFD administrator Dorianne Curley explained cribbing is used for a variety of responses, most significantly vehicular accidents and oil tank failures where temporary stabilization of an object is needed. Curley recounted Massin had taken all the measurements of the department's vehicles herself, gathering materials and putting them together with her father, Bernie Massin (pictured). Each block or step chalk was then painted a bright yellow and given an easy to use handle.
