Workers with Wrangell Municipal Light and Power move line from old utility poles along Church Street to the new on July 27. Six new poles in the vicinity of Rooney's Roost and the public library were replaced over the summer. The replacement was part of a broader update to the city's power infrastructure which was recommended in a study last year. WMLP partnered with AP&T and Public Works to complete the underground component of the work. All that is left will be for communications lines to be shifted over before the old poles can be taken up. Pedestrian access along the road is anticipated to be restored shortly. Further replacements and updates on the remainder of Church Street will be undertaken next year.
