PSG man indicted for child porn charges, posts exploitative on Twitter

PETERSBURG–A Petersburg man was indicted by a Juneau grand jury last week and charged with 12 counts related to the possession of child pornogrpahy, according to a press release from the Department of Law.

Kanin Robert Grant, also known as Robert Carle, was the subject of an ongoing investigation by the Alaska Bureau of Investigation's Technical Crimes Unit. He was indicted last Thursday.

The investigation started in early June, when the bureau received a tip that claimed a Twitter account had uploaded an image depicting child sexual exploitation, according to Megan Peters with the Alaska Department of Public Safety.

"Through various search warrants, admin subpoenas and interviews it was discovered that the Twitter account belonged to Kanin Grant in Petersburg," according to an email from Peters, adding that a warrant seized several of Grant's electronics. "After forensic exams of those electronics it was revealed Grant was in possession of images of sexually exploited children."

Grant is currently at large with a warrant issued for his arrest. He faces between two and 99 years of jail time for each count of possessing child porn.

The department is asking anyone with information regarding Grant's whereabouts to contact the Technical Crimes Unit at 907-269-5511.

"The indictment by the Grand Jury is a charging document," a press release from the department reads, "and Grant is presumed innocent of all charges unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt."
