Participants make time in the second annual July 4 boat race, which featured speedy slalom courses, a rooster tail competition, and a straightaway burn past the city dock. Winner of the rooster tail and 21-and-under jet boat slalom, David Gillen was also declared the "people's choice" for all-around racer.

Entrants in this year's July 4 Royalty Competition get ready to draw winning tickets in the post-parade drawing. At left, Robbie Marshall set records with sales of 62,792 tickets and by becoming the competition's first crowned king. Crowned prince and princess beside him, runners up Draven Golding and KayDee Howell sold 25,960 and 13,630 tickets, respectively

Armed with squirt guns, organizers of the greased pole competition try to make things difficult for Saiyan Baker as he approaches the far end. His second attempt, Baker ended up reaching the cord at the end and winning the $50 prize, the only participant this year to do so.

The yolk is on one contestant during this year's egg toss competition. Held on a cordoned-off section of Front Street just outside of the Sentinel office, dozens of pairs of participants gradually increase their distance as they try to carefully lob the delicate ellipsoids back and forth.
