Halloween is a time of cheesy horror movies, trick-or-treating, costumes, and Halloween parties. KSTK, Wrangell's local radio station, is gearing up for a party of its own. The radio station is holding its second annual Halloween party on Oct. 20 at the Nolan Center.
"It's definitely open of our larger fundraisers for the year," said Keeleigh Solverson with KSTK. "It's an all-adult party, so a bit different than some of the things we usually do. But as our second annual we're trying to incorporate this to become a yearly event that will be one of our biggest fundraisers."
The theme of the party is "Haunt the Park." Solverson said they went all-out with decorations for the party, creating a "haunted" replication of City Park within the Nolan Center. People attending the party can expect a lot of different forms of entertainment. There will be a live performance from Trego, a band out of Spokane, Washington. There will also be numerous door prizes given out, and a cash bar. Party-goers are encouraged to dress for the occasion as a costume contest will be held, too. Solverson said that this year's party is going to be even more fun than last year's.
"We're building off of what we did last year and improving on some things," she said. "Actually, there wasn't a ton to improve on, it's just making it bigger and better every year."
The party kicks off at 8 p.m. at the Nolan Center. Tickets are required for the party and is for age 21 and over.
"It's just an event to support KSTK and keep local radio in Wrangell, and it'll be a fun event for everybody. We put a lot of hard work and time into it, so it's guaranteed fun," said Solverson.
