The Nolan Center recently unveiled their new logo. Cyni Crary, director of the Nolan Center, said that when she took the job she wanted to work on some rebranding. She said she wanted a more modern, cohesive logo that represented all the services the Nolan Center could provide.
"I actually got out my own sketchbook and I started thinking about ways to cohesively bring all the different elements of the center, here, together," she said. "So I started drawing something that represented the museum, and something I felt like represented the theater, and the civic center, and the visitor's center."
The final design of the logo was put together by Grace Carson, who Crary said had designed the logo for Groundswell, another Wrangell business. The new logo shows off the variety of things the Nolan Center offers. There is a film reel, representing the theater, salmon that represent the museum, people sitting at a table to show off the civic center, and lupine, a plant that is common in Wrangell.
"I have a lot of respect for her work," Crary said. "Her artistry is just incredible, and I love the woodblock style."
She added that the new logo is only one step in a wider revamping of the Nolan Center. She pointed out that people are now able to buy movie tickets with their credit cards, instead of just cash. A new website for the center is in the works, too. Crary said that the new website will be online by the new year. It will be a good place for people to get information about what movies are showing, to sign up for events, to see parts of the museum, and much more. Nolan Center t-shirts for employees are another idea Crary is considering. These are all baby steps, she said, to make the Nolan Center better and more modern.
"As far as a projected date, I'm hoping for the next cruise ship season that we are up and running more up to date," she said.
