Southeast Beasts, Wrangell's running group, will be hosting a Forest Fun Run this Saturday, beginning at 1 p.m. The 5k run will be around the nature trail loop at Volunteer Park, beginning and ending at the covered basketball court. According to the Facebook event page for the run, there will be prizes for the first and last place finishers, as well as other door prizes. The run will also serve as a fundraiser for Southeast Beast's youth athletic shoe account at Angerman's Inc.
Lucy Robinson, with Southeast Beasts, said that they will have a mitigation plan in place to help keep participants safe. She said that they will have staggered start times for the run, and will spread people out. There will also be different routes for people to run, to further distance everyone. Robinson asks that participants wear masks and sanitize their hands. She added that dogs are welcome at the run, but asks they be left in vehicles until the fun run begins to limit interactions with other dogs or people. Anybody who feels sick, or who has recently travelled, should stay home, she said. Donations can be made to the shoe account without having to participate in the run, she added.
"I'll have more details probably mid-week," Robinson said.
More information about the run can be found on Facebook, under "Forest Fun Run!"
