WHS competes in second cross country meet

Wrangell's cross country team competed in their second meet of the season Saturday, Sept. 28. Like their first meet of the season, on Sept. 12, it was a virtual meet against several other competing schools. Results were provided to the Wrangell Sentinel by WHS Activities Director Trisa Rooney. Rooney said that there were five competing teams: Juneau Douglas, Thunder Mountain, Gustavus, Petersburg, and Wrangell.

For the boys' race, first place for Wrangell went to Ethan Blatchley with a time of 19:42. He took fifth place overall for Division III. Devlyn Campbell took second place for Wrangell at 19:51, sixth overall. Elias Decker came in third place for Wrangell at 21:14, and ninth overall.

In the girls' race, Liana Carney took first place for Wrangell and second overall, with a time of 23:32. Brodie Gardner took second place for Wrangell at 23:41, third place overall. Third place for Wrangell went to Jade Balansag at 23:56, fourth place overall.
