Carly Allen takes over at Wrangell Medical Center

Leatha Merculieff, who has served both as SEARHC vice president and as Wrangell hospital administrator since SEARHC took over the facility in 2019, has been promoted to the consortium's senior vice president and chief of operations. In her place, Wrangell resident Carly Allen will take over as hospital administrator.

Allen is a third-generation Wrangell resident, according to the SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium news release on Monday. She has been with SEARHC since 2017, after a merger with Alaska Island Community Services.

As the director of southern primary care clinic operations, "Allen managed SEARHC facilities including Front Street Clinic in Juneau; itinerant clinics in Gustavus and northern Prince of Wales (Island); and the former AICS Medical Clinic in Wrangell,"the news release said.

In her time as hospital administrator, Merculieff oversaw the integration of Wrangell Medical Center into the SEARHC network. Other accomplishments noted include the introduction of an in-house certified nursing assistant training program, helping to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, and overseeing the construction of a new hospital, the SEARHC announcement said

The staff changes were effective immediately, the announcement said.
