May 22 run will be fun finale

Lucy Moline-Robinson is organizing her “finale” fun run for Southeast Beasts May 22. Robinson has been organizing events for Wrangell’s running group since 2012, she said, and it is time for her to step away from the work.

“It’s been a wonderful time and I’ve enjoyed it, but I’d just like to take a break,” she said. “It’s a lot of work and a lot of effort. … I am looking for folks to organize the main runs, because I think they have some value in our community.”

The main events put on by Southeast Beasts are the Thanksgiving Turkey Trot, the Alaska Day Fun Run, and the Shamrock Shuffle around St. Patrick’s Day. Robinson said some people have reached out to her about taking over organizing the runs, but nothing is confirmed.

Southeast Beasts’ Fun Run Finale will begin at 7 a.m. May 22, beginning and ending at Muskeg Meadows Golf Course. The running group will also sponsor a golf event the following day. Proceeds from both the run and the golf event will go to the course, to thank Muskeg Meadows for letting the runners use the course over the years.

The Fun Run Finale will feature a full marathon, a half marathon, a 10k, 5k and 1-mile dash. Route details and further information will be available in the near future. For more information, visit Southeast Beasts Fun Run Finale! on Facebook.
